Brent Lewis

Board Member

Brent is a US Army Veteran with a MOS in communications that spent parts of his military service posted in Germany and on the Korean DMZ.  After his exit from the military in 1988, he began a civilian career in the utility industry working in construction and engineering on broadband communications and later in the power industry.  During that time, he has been professionally involved with many major and minor storm restoration efforts leading restoration teams on everything from hurricanes to ice storms, going as far back as Hurricane Katrina.

In 2017 Brent joined with the non-profit organization Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (501c3) as part of their disaster response to Hurricane Harvey.  There he supported SDIA’s recovery mission as captain of a boat doing rescue and recovery efforts in flooded downtown Houston.  In 2018 he accepted the position of Disaster Response Coordinator for the Central Arkansas Chapter for SDIA.  In that role he led the Chapter’s disaster response to multiple disasters both local and national. In 2020, he assumed the position of Chapter Commander for that same chapter and became one of 19 Chapter Commanders across the nation for the organization.  He helped lead the way in navigating the organization’s Covid response in serving the homebound during lockdown by leading teams delivering food and medical supplies.  He was also influential in the writing of policies and procedures to ensure the safety of the SDIA teams and the public during that confusing time.

Currently, Brent works for TRC Engineering in distribution operations, a position he has held for the past 22 years.   As one of TRC’s supervisors he uses his 35 plus years of communication and power experience to lead other industry professionals as they support TRC’s ongoing mission as a vital part of the sustainability of the nation’s power and communication grids.
